Black Adam, originally known as Teth-Adam, is a complex character in the DC Universe. He first appeared in December in the comic book Marvel Family #1. Black Adam received his powers from the wizard Shazam, the same source as Captain Marvel (now known as Shazam).

Unlike Shazam, who uses his powers for good, Black Adam is often portrayed as an anti-hero or outright villain.
